The SPCA is lucky to have Lucky Nene
Lucky is the epitome of hard work and dedication

At the SPCA, putting animals first is a priority, and for staff member Lucky Nene, it’s more than a job.
Lucky, an animal lover of note, got the job at the SPCA eight years ago thanks to his work ethic. The then inspector, Nazareth Appalsamy, asked Lucky to volunteer at the SPCA for a few weeks while they were short staffed.
Once they saw how hard he worked, they offered him a permanent post and he’s not looked back since.
What sets Lucky apart from many is his passion and dedication to his job. His morning starts with checking on all the dogs before cleaning out the 40 kennels he’s in charge of. Lucky also goes beyond his basic duties. He ensures the areas around his kennels are neat and tidy and takes pride in every aspect of his job.
Lucky’s love for animals extends to after hours as well, as he’s always checking on animals or educating people in Lindelani where he lives. He also educates youngsters at schools and started the Lion Strikers Club.
The Lion Strikers Club educates youngsters not only on animal care but on life lessons too. This includes proper hygiene, having respect for others and good manners. While helping shape the youngsters of the area into responsible adults, Lucky is also helping save the lives of animals.
“If you are friendly and loving towards an animal, that animal will be friendly and loving towards you.”
There’s no doubt that Lucky has made many furry friends over the years and made a difference in many lives, animals and humans alike.
