Man (90) assaulted, bike stolen

No one is immune from criminals...

Not even a senior citizen is immune to the crime wave.  A 90-year-old man had his bicycle stolen after he was hit on the head and kicked.

The man, whose name is known to the Courier, was attacked outside the KwaShezi Tuckshop at Stratford Farm on the Dundee/Helpmekaar area.

Police spokesman, Captain V Mbense, said the shocking incident occurred early on Saturday evening and police are now investigating a charge of grievous bodily harm.

“The elderly man was talking to friends when he was approached by another man who demanded that he be given the bicycle. The 90-year-old tried to prevent the bicycle from being stolen but he was hit on the head with a knobkerrie. He fell to the ground and was then kicked,” Captain Mbense said.
