SAPS launches investigation into foiled farm attack
It is believed the suspects were released from custody, and Newcastle SAPS spokesman, Captain Jabulani Ncube confirmed an official complaint in the form of an affidavit was received.

SAPS has launched an internal investigation, regarding a thwarted farm attack at the weekend.
Late on Saturday, messages were sent via local farming networks about two shady-looking men approaching a farm, a few kilometres outside Newcastle on the R34 Memel Road.
The farm owners then pressed a panic button to call for help.
According to sources, the two suspects fled the area when the alarm was triggered and were later apprehended in Hutten Heights, in possession of various burglary tools including gloves, balaclavas and cable ties.
The suspects were then detained at Newcastle SAPS.
It was later confirmed the farm was Brinkshoop, and representatives of the Brink family confirmed an incident had occurred there on Saturday night.
“There is a thorough police investigation underway and the family is not prepared to make any further statements.”
The family issued an additional statement on Wednesday morning, thanking Ithemba Security for its prompt response and the community for its assistance.
“Suspects were taken to the police station and placed in custody, along with evidence – not the type you make a cup of tea with,” said a family member.
More information has since come to light following the incident.
It is believed the suspects were released from custody, and Newcastle SAPS spokesman, Captain Jabulani Ncube confirmed an official complaint in the form of an affidavit was received.
“It is uncertain if members involved acted accordingly, and an internal investigation is underway.”
