With an increase in people wanting to attain this lifestyle, companies presenting innovative ideas are moving in fast.

However, not everyone has good intentions. Estcourt resident Ronald Harilal told the Estcourt News recently about an alleged scam that almost cheated a Loskop woman out of R7 000.

Some community members were aware of three gentlemen doing the rounds in Loskop. They were traveling in a white Toyota bakkie with Pietermaritzburg licence plates.

A woman who showed interest in the ‘go green’ investment accompanied the trio to a bank where she withdrew R7 000.

“Upon requisition for the documentation for the investment, the gentlemen hesitated. She then spoke up that she feels something is not right. Members of the community got together and addressed these men to hand documentation or return the money,” explained Mr Harilal.

The men allegedly became hostile and tried to leave but community members forcefully made them return the woman’s money before chasing them off.

“The vehicle later was discovered as a hired vehicle by those men. Please be alert of these men and do not hand any money for any go green investment,” added Mr Harilal.
