Horse and rider killed on N11

A horse rider and his horse have lost their lives after being struck by a motor vehicle on the N11, just outside a mining company.
The rider and the horse were pronounced dead at the scene.
Traffic officials have been dispatched to the affected area.
Motorists are advised to drive with caution when using this route, as both lanes are obstructed.
The Newcastle Advertiser extends its condolences to the family of the deceased.
