Mooi River police are investigating cases of public violence and malicious damage to property after a truck was razed on Sunday evening.
It is reported that a truck driver was travelling along the N3 near Mooi River when he noticed a group of protestors.
According to the driver, the group started to throw stones at the truck.
“He stopped the truck, fled the scene and he later found the truck burning,” commented police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala.
Police have not established any link between this truck fire and other protests on the N3 where trucks were torched and looted.
