Newcastle mayor, Cllr Ntuthuko Mahlaba, voted today ahead of the national and provincial elections.

South Africans are gearing up for Voting Day on May 8, and many are eager to cast their votes which will decide which political party will govern the country. Newcastle Municipality Mayor, Dr Ntuthuko Mahlaba, cast his vote today at the Ward 4 voting station at Hutten Heights Primary School.

Mahlaba encouraged all Newcastle residents to go out and make their mark.

“I encourage everyone to go out and vote, because it is a democratic right. We come from a time when we didn’t enjoy the pleasure of voting, but now is the time to exercise that right and vote.

Voting shows that you are a responsible citizen and you are directly contributing directly to the governing of this country. I am here as the leader of the African National Congress in Newcastle, and I have made my mark.”
