May 8 marks the 5th free and fair elections in South Africa
You can vote as long as you are a registered voter and have the required documentation

May 8, national and provincial election day, is finally here. The question is: Are you ready to make your mark?
Today is a public holiday to allow everyone the opportunity to participate in voting for the political party they feel will make the best government.
All voting stations will be in operation from as early as 7am and will remain open until 9pm.
As 2019 marks the 25th year of democracy and the 5th free and fair elections in South Africa, you can literally cast your vote anywhere in the country. However, if you are outside your province, you will only be allowed to vote for national government.
You can vote as long as you are a registered voter and have the required documentation. You will need to have your Green Bar-Coded ID Book, Smart ID, driver’s licence or a temporary ID. The latter will be available at all Home Affairs offices, which will be open today strictly for that purpose.
