Bhekuzulu heroes honoured by Cllr Mazibuko

These men are always ready to assist, whether with digging grave plots, pitching tents or carrying heavy objects...

Food parcels and a dinner were how Councillor, Dudu Mazibuko showed appreciation to the helpful men of Bhekuzulu recently.

The Izinsizwa zomgodi team is a group of young men from within the community, who go above and beyond to ensure the spirit of Ubuntu is kept alive within the community, and who always come together to ensure the proper burial of community members.

Team members receive food parcels from Councillor, Dudu Mazibuko.

These men are always ready to assist, whether with digging grave plots, pitching tents or carrying heavy objects.

Cllr Mazibuko roped in the Department of Social Development and Bhekuzulu residents to organise an event as a way of saying ‘thank you’ to the team, which assembles as and when needed and expects no compensation in return.

They received food parcels (including staples and essentials such as washing powder and maize meal), during a grand dinner at a fully decorated Bhekuzulu Hall.

“Most of these young men are unemployed and I understand how frustrating that must be for them. We figured it would be a great thing to help them ease the burden on their families, by helping them be the ones who bring the groceries home this month. They were absolutely thrilled and I am happy to have been able to do this for them,” concluded Cllr Mazibuko.
