Ward 7 by-election marred by bribery allegations
IFP members claim government bodies are handing out vouchers to voters, in a bid to sway votes.
Voting mania has reached fever pitch at the Glencoe Town Hall, as Ward 7 residents mark their mark this morning. So far, (by around 10am) just over 80 people had cast their vote at the Glenridge Voting Station.
The process has been marred however, by allegations of bribery and corruption at the Telaphi Voting Station. IFP members claim government bodies are handing out vouchers to voters, in a bid to sway votes. Party members say they have reported the matter to the Independent Electoral Commission.
Xolani Msizane, By-Elections Campaign Manager for the IFP, has voiced his frustration at the situation and says he will visit the IEC in Dundee personally, to find out why ‘gifts’ are being given out today and not at month-end or on pension payout day.
