The South African National Blood Services (SANBS) hosted their monthly blood donor clinic last Thursday. The nursing team also observed World Blood Donor Day by gifting each blood donor with a token of appreciation.

Ahead of donating his 172nd pint, Anil Sookraj was supported by little Shristi Basdewu.

The day was observed on June 14 – and aims to raise awareness of the need for safe blood as well as to appreciate blood donors for saving millions of lives every year.

“I want to send heartfelt thanks to all the donors who sacrificed their time to attend and do good, also for braving the cold to help save lives. We send lots of love to you all and hope to see new recruits at the next blood clinic on July 11,” he said.

Christopher Ntombela bled his 97th pint.

The blood collected is used to help patients suffering from life-threatening illnesses, accidents, surgery and or mostly commonly childbirth.
