An operation to ‘root out’ drug lords was conducted in the early hours of Monday morning (October 12) in Lakeside and Heeren Street.
Police officers attached to the Provincial Organised Crime Unit searched a house in Heeren Street, where they found over R20,00 in cash. They also found possible traces of drugs.
The team then proceeded to Lakeside, where a 35-year-old man was found in possession of heroin, crystal meth and ecstasy with a street value of approximately R10,000. The suspect was arrested.
Later that night, three suspects were arrested for possession of drugs in the house in Heeren Street. The drugs included crack cocaine, crystal meth and cocaine powder with an estimated street value of R40,000. All suspects appeared in the magistrate’s court today (October 13).
KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula, commended the officers involved in the operation. “The ongoing efforts by the Provincial Organised Crime Unit to dismantle drug operations in the province is applauded,” he said.
