Police arrested three suspects in Ezakheni during the early hours of Tuesday morning (April 20).

The arrests were made during an operation that was conducted by Public Order Police and Ezakheni detectives. The team was searching for suspects involved in a murder and house robbery committed in the Ezakheni area.

The investigation led the team to a house in Ezakheni, where the suspects were hiding. Three people aged between 36 and 39 were placed under arrest. More arrests are expected as the investigation unfolds.

It is alleged that on Sunday, April 4, at about 8.45pm, Mthokozisi Doctor Sibiya (29) was at his home with his family in Mkholwane Street, Ezakheni, when three unknown suspects entered.

The suspects threatened the family and stole three cell-phones. They fatally shot Sibiya, who sustained gunshot wounds to the head. He was declared dead at the scene.

Charges of murder and robbery were opened for investigation at Ezakheni SAPS. Now three suspects are behind bars and will face the full might of the law for their crimes.
