Ladysmith KZN: Mayor granted bail after Friday’s arrest

Mayor Madlala has appeared in court, facing firearm-related charges

Today (August 2), Alfred Duma Local Municipality Mayor Vincent Madlala appeared in the Ezakheni Magistrate’s Court, where he was granted bail of R10,000.

He faces two charges, namely defeating the ends of justice and firearm-related offences.

Mr Madlala was arrested on Friday morning (July 30), along with his daughter and two sons.

His daughter has been charged with possession of illegal firearms and was also granted bail.

His sons, together with three friends, are still in custody.
