Another business ‘cleaned out’ in burglary

Oil had been splashed around the premises possibly in a bid to foil SAPS' attempts to lift fingerprints.

Another business has suffered the hands of burglars who on Saturday night, through to the early hours of Sunday, broke into Dundee Garden Centre and stole goods valued at thousands of Rands.

Johan Schlebush who for the past 25 years has owned and run the Garden Centre said it appears as if the thieves had ‘run of the place from around 11pm on Saturday to around 4am on Sunday.’

An alarm was activated but it appears as if the thieves managed to evade security officials who responded.

Blowers, chain saws, cash and other goods were stolen. Access was gained through the roof of the property on Karel Landman Street after thieves cut a barbed wire security fences facing Cornhill Street.

Wires to an inverter in the shop were cut as was the alarm.

Oil had been splashed around the premises possibly in a bid to foil SAPS’ attempts to lift fingerprints.

This break in follows a similar one last Saturday/Sunday at the golf club where, as in the Garden Centre burgarly, the security cameras had been turned around.
