1 of 3 missing horses recovered

The family remains hopeful that the other two horses will also be found.

One of the three horses reported missing from a farm near Elandslaagte last month (September) has been found. The horse, Miss World, was recovered on Sunday (October 19) by MAGMA Security.

This came after the security company received information that horses would be used to drive stolen cattle to the Wasbank area via the N11 on Friday. Security company personnel remained on alert, having vehicles checking all the surrounding hot-spots to make sure no cattle were passing by the N11.

Horse found in Wasbank

Up until Sunday, nothing happened… The members then decided to go check the Wasbank area and surroundings to see if any suspected stolen livestock could be located, No cattle or suspected criminals were spotted. However, they did see a group of horses in an open field and decided to check, being aware of the information that some of Bruce MacLarty’s horses had been stolen.

One of the horses matched the description (a photo of the three stolen horses has been circulating on social media platforms). The brand mark was also checked, confirming that it was indeed one of the stolen horses. Mr MacLarty was contacted to come and verify that the horse was his, which he did. The recovered horse, Miss World, was then taken back to the MacLarty farm.

It has been reported that Miss World was in a terrible state, full of ticks and sores on her back.

The owners are grateful and remain hopeful that the other two horses will be found as well.

Still missing are two three-year-old male horses, Hoshi (bred to jump) and Heartland (bred for polo / polocrosse). Each of the horses has been brand-marked with the letter ‘M’.
