The much-anticipated Rooi Dlame Tournament finally took place this past weekend, bringing together 16 soccer teams at Landbou High School for two days of exciting action.
Held on Saturday and Sunday, the event drew players and supporters from across various municipalities. The games kicked off at 09:00 and by then, crowds were already streaming into the grounds. Both fields – Ground A and Ground B – were packed with enthusiastic supporters, singing, cheering and dancing to create an electric atmosphere that set the stage for a weekend of thrilling football.

The weather was perfect for the competition, and teams fought hard not only for the prizes but also for bragging rights against their rivals.
In the end, Msinga United emerged as the champions of the 2025 Rooi Dlame Tournament. They went head-to-head with Ditlou in the finals, securing a decisive 3-0 victory. For their efforts, Msinga United took home R10,000 in prize money, a full sports kit, a trophy and gold medals.
Their road to the final was just as impressive. Msinga United claims 2025 Rooi Dlame Tournament title after a dominant weekend of football. defeated United FC 2-0 in the semi-finals, while Friends FC triumphed over Happy Stars with a 4-1 win. In the other semi-final, Ditlou edged out TK Stars 1-0 to book their place in the final against Msinga.

The tournament also featured a special ‘curtain-raiser’ match, where the SkuvaNation side faced off against Nquthu Legends in a friendly game, adding a nostalgic touch with soccer greats from Durban and Nquthu on display.
Rooi Dlame expressed his gratitude to all participating teams, fans, sponsors and organisers for making the event a success. He also hinted at more tournaments in the future, saying: “With sport, we can all make a difference.”
