Dogs need homes soon

Absu is a black Labrador cross Boerboel, urgently looking for a good home - if she does not find a loving family soon, she will unfortunately have to be put down

The Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) is urgently looking for a deep freezer. The current one is giving problems and they need one to store meat in. The AACL is also is desperate need of dry and wet dog and cat food. They are currently running very low on supplies and are in danger of closing due to the financial strain from the municipality’s vet bill which has been placed on their account.

The league would like to remind the public that they do not deal with stray animals, as this is the job of the municipality. If you are having a problem with strays, please call the municipality directly and not the AACL.

There are dogs and kittens at the kennels that are in desperate need of good homes. Absu is a black Labrador cross Boerboel, urgently looking for a good home. If she does not find a loving family soon, she will unfortunately have to be put down. She is very affectionate and full of life! She requires a big yard to play in and lots of love. In fact, all the animals deserve love! Like Jacko the hunting dog, who also needs to go home soon. And Pringle the Staffordshire Terrier, who is still young and bounding with life. He does well with other dogs and just wants someone to love. Two Jack Russells are both looking for a home. They were raised together, so it would be best if they stay together. They are both very friendly and enjoy exercise. They would do well in a home with children who will love them and play with them. There are currently two kittens who will be ready to go to their new home in two weeks’ time! There is a black and a grey one, both with gorgeous blue eyes. Please find it in your heart to take these lovable and loyal friends home with you today.

There have been reports of dogs going into other people’s properties. Most of these cases happen due to the dog not being spayed. This then attracts other dogs, especially males, into the yard. Please spay your females and neuter your males!

There have also been many reports of dogs being hit by cars. Please ensure that your pets are safely within your property at all times. If they get out of your yard and are injured, you are to blame. Please be a responsible pet owner and take the necessary precautions against this happening to your best friend. Thanks this week goes out to Pierre Massyn.
