2018 looks bleak, if you believe this prediction

2018 may not turn out the way we predict, but then again, crazier stuff has happened

‘So this is Christmas and what have you done
Another year over, a new one just begun’

Yes, as the lyrics above say, it’s Christmas again. The year has rapidly flown past and 2018 is around the corner. But what does 2018 hold for the fair citizens of Northern KwaZulu-Natal?
Well as much as we wish we could predict the future, we can’t. But if we could pre-empt it, this is how we would want it to go.

2018 in Dannhauser:
After becoming the first municipality to be 100% electrified and implementing CCTV camera’s in the CBD, Dannhauser takes the next big step and puts up traffic lights in the town. Hawkers come to town, selling plastic coat hangers and balloons at the robots, boosting the economy.

2018 in Dundee:
Rampant corruption has ruined Endumeni. Rampant crime has also ruined Endumeni. With still no CCTV cameras and no police vans available, the only people stealing more than the criminals are the ‘legal criminals’ who are untouchable. We all know who they are…

2018 in Estcourt:
Estcourt is now a barren wasteland where cannibals run rough shot. Enter at your own risk and make sure you have enough protection when doing so. The area has been blocked off by giant walls, keeping the crazed cannibals at bay.

2018 in Newcastle:
Newcastle continues to expand as more and more malls open up on every corner. It soon becomes the economic hub of South Africa and the ‘IT’ place to be.
The rapid expansion leads to Newcastle being the first town to have flying cars and virtual shopping malls. People no longer have to leave their homes to get groceries.

2018 in Ladysmith:
Ladysmith has always been known as a crazy town where snakes are spotted on a daily basis and even mermaids make the rare appearance. In a Planet of the Apes like scenario, Ladysmith is the Town of the Snakes. The serpent population rule the town, enslaving the human race forcing them to build monuments in their honour.

2018 may not turn out the way we predict, but then again, crazier stuff has happened. After all, who ever thought that Donald Trump would become President or that Robert Mugabe would resign in 2017?

At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention. Happy reading!
