Plus size women deserve to enjoy the beach too

Gone are the days when big women were made to feel ugly and unloveable, embrace your size and wear whatever that makes YOU comfortable

The festive season is upon us and with it comes so many festivities, namely going on holiday, visiting friends and family from other provinces and so forth. With the summer days heating up, we see people wearing fewer clothes. People go to the beach for a swim, fun, and games, but being on the plus size of things makes it difficult for curvaceous women to have fun at the beach while people stare as they pass by.

Being a voluptuous woman comes with its own difficulties especially when it comes to choosing a perfect swimsuit.
Okay so most of us hit the beach in December and swimsuit shopping becomes such a mission for us ’rounded’ people, I mean having to find the right bikini or swimming costume is mission impossible on its own. When we do find it we still have to worry about “the-what-will-people-say” syndrome, the thought of hitting the pool on a hot summer’s day is not as relaxing and as ideal as most might think. Having to worry about our “rolls” showing and our potbellies gracing everyone, is an embarrassing thought.

We try and find something that will cover all the right places at the correct length, but do we find that? Hell no, instead we have to settle for unfitting bikinis and swimming costumes that reveal just about everything, from our flabby arms to our chunky thighs and our wobbly stomachs. Over the years I have come to realise that “if it’s made in your size then it means you can wear it”, whether it’s a size 38 or 42 if that bikini is in your size my darling buy it and wear it with pride.

Gone are the days when big women were made to feel ugly and unloveable, embrace your size and wear whatever that makes YOU comfortable. Be it a mini skirt or shorts at the beach, be okay with your body weight and if you are not okay with it change it, don’t live your life under a shell because you are afraid of what people will say about your weight.

If you are no longer happy with it, go to the gym, exercise, join a dancing class, do whatever it takes to get your spirits up again.
Don’t live your life according to other peoples expectations, do what makes you happy, if it means wearing your size 44 bikini and sunbathing at the beach do that and have fun while you’re at it.

Don’t succumb to body shaming or cyberbullying, you are just as beautiful as a petite person. Many people will envy you for being confident in your own skin because they can’t bring themselves to love their bodies unconditionally.
A woman is definitely not determined by her body size. Learn to embrace your body with all its flaws and scars because that what makes us all different.

Wear that bikini with pride and walk high knowing that you are beautiful and sexy, don’t ever wish to be someone you are not and don’t be afraid to show the world those rolls and your sexy chunky thighs.

You also deserve to have a great time at the beach these holidays and of course don’t forget to take selfies and post them on your social network page… who knows you may just awaken someone else’s confidence and boost their self-esteem.
Go out and have fun in the sun you deserve it, enjoy your holiday my chunky friends.
