BLOG: Reducing educator stress – part 1

With our educators back at school, I would like to share some tips on how to manage your stress.

Being an educator is a wonderful profession and far more than just a job.  It truly takes special people to be educators.

I have heard different sayings along the lines of “if you love what you do, you won’t feel stressed.”  However, in my opinion, that just isn’t true!

Teaching is indeed a passion and our teachers love every minute of it, but I would be lying to you if I said I never once heard an educator saying they are stressed in this profession.

Here are some tips to help manage the school stress:

Identify what’s making you stressed
Before you can tackle stress, you need to know what is stressing you out.

Write a list detailing all the things that are causing you stress right now.

Divide your list into two columns
Things you can control and things you can’t.  Now focus on finding solutions to the things you can control.

From your list, pick the one that will have the biggest impact on your stress levels.

What can you do to tackle this issue? Set yourself a goal to manage it and write it down using positive language.
