Local juskei players take on SA’s best

Nico Strydom from Vryheid was the general manager for all the teams and did a sterling job.

A number of jukskei players from Dundee and Glencoe represented KwaZulu-Natal at the South African Junior Jukskei Championships held at Kroonstad. The teams left on December 4 and returned on December 10.
The teams played against provincial teams from all over South Africa as well as Namibia.
The under 13 boys team consisting of Ruan van Reenen (capt), Mvelo Sibisi, Nhlalwenhle Hlatshwayo, Bongumenzi Zungu and coach Henko van Reenen, all from Dundee Junior School, and they attained 14th position.
The under 16 boys team consisting of Phila Zulu (SCHS capt), Thubilile Luthuli (SCHS), Jano Strydom (Vryheid), Samkelo Msane (SCHS) and Mthobisi Ngobese (DJS) with coach James Kleynhans (Durban) attained 11th position.
The under 19 girls team consisting of Inge Esterhuizen (Kuswag High Capt), Karien Kleynhans (Kuswag High), Nxusile Gumede (SCHS) and Anica Mostert (DHS) with coach Daleen Roos (Newcastle) did very well and attained 4th position. The under 19 boys team consisting of Sko Dlamini (SCHS capt), Mcebisi Mahula (SCHS), Deon Nell (Amajuba H/S) and Ferdi Voolstra (Durban) with coach Leon Lombard attained 8th position.

Representative teams in combination with KwaZulu Natal, Mpumulanga and Limpopo were selected and they played in trials to select national teams.
Sko Dlamini, Ferdi Voolstra and Karien Kleynhans played in the representative teams and James Kleynhans was appointed as manager for the under 16 representative side. Ferdi Voolstra was further selected to play in the SA A side and Karien Kleynhans was selected for the under 19 girls SA Academic team. Congratulations to the KZN Jukskei players for their performance.
