Blue-tick fever cure?

Users and recipients will not know whether you have read their messages or not

Android WhatsApp users, rejoice! Thanks to a new feature to be introduced by WhatsApp merely 2 weeks after the infamous ‘blue tick fever’, Android users will soon have the option of switching the ‘blue ticks’ off. This will change the WhatsApp messaging system to what it was previously; users and recipients will not know whether you have read their messages or not.

The latest beta version of WhatsApp on Android has been released with the option to disable the blue tick marks and will most likely be rolled out in a few days.

The feature is relatively easy to use on your phone, although it is the long-winded route. It all depends on whether or not you want people to be able to see if you are deliberately not replying to their message.

Beta version

Remember, this will only work for Android users and you are prepared to install a beta version. Firstly, go to the settings and enable the ‘Download from unknown sources’.   Thereafter, you need to download the APK file from WhatsApp’s website. For all you technophobes, APK stands for Android Application Package and is a key role player for installing application software. After this has been completed, run the application. Now open your WhatsApp and under Settings, change your privacy settings by unmarking read receipts.

You’ve done it! You have removed yourself from feeling obliged to replying a message your sender knows you’ve seen.

To the rest of you WhatsApp users out there, including those with iOS, be patient. This is only applicable to Beta Android users presently.

But expect your next update from Google Play Store to have it soon.
