Vryheid Lions give back to the community

IF YOU were one of the people who went to this year’s Lions Mayfair, pat yourself on the back. Your support allowed the Lions Club of Vryheid to make generous donations to worthy causes on Sunday.

The two latest beneficiaries were Capt Errol Tustin, the disabled police officer who lives in Vryheid, and the Neighbourhood Watch (NW) organisation. Capt Tustin was unable to be at the Lions Club but the NW was represented by its Chairperson, Gavin Minott, and Patrol Commander, Adriaan Botha.

Lions President Teresa Seegers thanked the NW for helping the Lions with security during the Mayfair. “Having you here made a huge difference, “she said. “We had a very peaceful Mayfair thanks to you and your members.”

All monies raised by the Lions at the Mayfair are donated back to the community during the year. This year’s Mayfair received huge support, enabling the Lions to already give back tens of thousands of rands to non-profit organisations and worthy but needy individuals in and around Vryheid. The Lions members are all volunteers – no Lion is paid a wage or salary.
