Speed cameras implemented at N12 and Rocher Street intersection

The speed cameras close to Die Wilge High School aim to curb reckless driving in this busy area.

New law-enforcement speed cameras were launched this past Friday, August 21, at the busy intersection of the N12 and Rocher Street in the Baillie Park area.

This is part of an initiative by the Department of Community Safety, Roads and Transport Management, together with Traffic Management Technologies (TMT), to enhance road safety and strengthen law enforcement.

According to the JB Marks Local Municipality, the speed cameras will assist law enforcement officers in monitoring vehicle speeds and identifying motorists who exceed the prescribed speed limits. This technology will support efforts to encourage greater compliance with traffic regulations and improve safety for all road users.

“The Municipality emphasises that the introduction of speed cameras is not intended to intimidate motorists, but rather to serve as an important road-safety measure. The ultimate goal is to reduce speeding, prevent road crashes and, most importantly, save lives on our roads,” added JB Marks Municipality spokesperson, Jeanette Tshite.

Motorists are urged to drive responsibly, observe speed limits, remain vigilant and respect all road users, particularly pedestrians and school children.
