Go Radio may not be one of the longest-serving bands in the rock scene but it is definitely one of the most missed. It garnered a healthy following for its emotional and heartfelt music.
Founded by the ex-Mayday Parade vocalist, Jason Lancaster, Go Radio is the second version of Lancaster’s musical endeavours and gave him the chance to showcase his talent in this band.
Go Radio has a subtle flow to its music and this rock/pop inspired band fused melody and harmony into a picture-perfect sound that catered to a variety of tastes with topics like love, life, death, family, friendship and heartbreak popping up in each track.
Go Radio consisted of Jason Lancaster – lead vocals, piano, rhythm guitar; Matt ‘Burns’ Poulos – bass guitar, backing vocals; Steven Kopacz – drums, percussion and Alex Reed – lead guitar, backing vocals.
Honourable mentions: ‘Collide’, ‘I Won’t Lie’, ‘Close the Distance’, ‘Thanks For Nothing’ ‘Over Me’, ‘Kill The Beast’, ‘Forever My Father’, ‘Lucky Street’, ‘Redemption in the Verse’.
5. Baltimore
The harmonic guitar in the beginning combined with the drum beat and Lancaster’s husky voice is the perfect triple threat to start the track off on a high note. The layered synths and keyboard also work brilliantly in the pre-chorus as Lancaster’s voice reaches a next level in the chorus where he passionately sings: ‘So let’s get carried away. Not lose ourselves in the fight. Let’s show the world we were right. That we can make it through and I may be leading the way but you will always be my light and I will always love you.’
This is a fantastic love song with a massively fulfilling bridge that showcases love to its fullest. It is something that has to be listened to, to be truly enjoyed.

4. Any Other Heart
‘If I had any other heart if any other piece spoke louder. If I had any other hands, I wouldn’t need the voice to tell the world about the coward that refuses to stand and claim the blood on your hands. If I had any other heart beside my own, we might have left you cold.’
This chorus is one of Go Radio’s very best and Lancaster’s melodic delivery of these emotional lyrics are one of the band’s fortes. This is one of my favourite tracks, mainly due to the lyrical content focusing on Lancaster personal struggles with his step-mother’s absence in his childhood and his contemplation on his struggles.
The song also looks at his level of forgiveness for the wrong he experienced in life and this truly gets to the heart of the song. Musically, it also works perfectly with a palm-muted intro before it hits a crescendo in the chorus. One of Go Radio’s top tracks.

3. In Our Final Hour
One of Go Radio’s earlier tracks from their 2008 EP Do Overs And Second Chances has a distinct punk- and alternative rock feel to it with electric guitar and pulsating drums adding to its fast pace. Lancaster’s signature voice rules the roost, especially in the bridge where he adds an intense scream to raise the already palpable emotion in the song. The song focuses on missed expectation in relationships and how this can cause friction and tension.
‘So if there’s gonna be a fight I’m saying baby fight fair. This doesn’t have to be the hour, we lose hours. And if it’s really got to end I’m saying let it end here. It shouldn’t be that hard to be. Just her and me.’

2. Fight Fight (Reach For The Sky)
This is one of the most energetic songs from Go Radio and has a bit of a salsa/Mexican vibe that gives the track a lot of spice – something entirely different from this talented band. Reed and Lancaster’s guitar work is superb and the tempo and pacing takes it to another level altogether. The lyrics in the bridge are of the best in the band’s repertoire as love is compared to a wild western: ‘There’s a dream with a girl. And she catches my eye as she dances and swirls. I wake up in a sweat and I try to remember her face but forget. The feel of her skin the weight off my chest. The taste of her lips I’ve been thinking of since, don’t wake up.’

1.Goodnight Moon
I am sure most Go Radio fans will agree the band’s classic song will always be the piano ballad ‘Goodnight Moon’ with its distinctive piano melody, Lancaster’s husky voice, xylophone and triangle effects and some tremendous drum work from Kopacz. The opening lyrics immediately paint a picture of unrelenting love as the main theme:
‘And don’t go to bed yet, love, I think it’s too early. And we just need a little time to ourselves.’
The chorus further emphasises the power of love and the joy and beauty of love, which is then compared to the children’s book, ‘Goodnight Moon’:
So goodnight moon, and goodnight you. When you’re all that I think about. All that I dream about. How’d I ever breathe without a goodnight kiss from goodnight you. The kind of hope they all talk about. The kind of feeling we sing about. Sit in our bedroom and read aloud, like a passage from goodnight moon.’
