Here are seven interesting facts of chocolate that you might not be aware of:
- Chocolate comes from the seed of the tropical Theobroma cacao tree. The first documented use of cocoa is from 1100 BC.
- Adrian Paul Blake of Bournemouth, UK, holds the record for “the fastest time to eat a Chocolate Orange.” He achieved this in 1 minute and 16 seconds on 19 June 2014. A Chocolate Orange is an orange-sized chocolate with orange extract inside.
- Bob Brown of the United States holds the record for the largest collection of chocolate bars. He has 770 unique chocolate bars in his collection.
- Nearly 70% of the world’s cocoa supply comes from Africa.
- Daniel Peter, invented milk chocolate in Switzerland in 1875 by adding condensed milk to his recipe.
- In 2017, research stated that the Cadbury Lunch Bar, was the most sold chocolate in South Africa.
- The largest chocolate bar in the world weighed approximately 5800 kilograms.
