Magical Christmas tree made out of plastic bottles
The project is also about cultivating a culture of kindness.
At the Happy Hooker, near Boskop Dam, Christmas is clearly in the air when you see the magical Christmas tree made out of plastic bottles.
Though beautiful and creative, it also tells the inspiring story of helping people in need. Especially those who are sometimes forgotten.
A few businesses have come together for a Christmas project where they collect toys for children with special needs. Rob’s Place Potchefstroom, Tanglewood Nature Estate, The Happy Hooker Pub & Restaurant, and Willshir Security have joined forces to make this Christmas one to remember for the children of their selected institution.
Rob Hamman, owner of the above-mentioned businesses, says: “It’s easy to overlook how fortunate we are. It is crucial to remember those who face greater challenges, especially children with mental disabilities. These children deserve our compassion, understanding, and support.”
Rob goes on to say that the project is also about cultivating a culture of kindness, especially for the younger generations so that they can continue with the projects in the future.
They are seeking toys specifically suited for children with mental disabilities, primarily those aged seven and younger. Ideal contributions include soft toys, building blocks, and teddy bears. The aim is to gather as many toys as possible with the goal being 100 toys. If there’s a shortfall, they’ll ensure no child is left out by purchasing additional items.
With the help of the community, they can achieve this goal. The names of all donors will be written down in a giant Christmas card which will be handed over with the toys.
