Music-Go-Round
This year, it’s been 60 years since the release of the Sound of Music film, which was celebrated all over the world.
A Successful and one-of-a-kind concert, featuring a selection of opera and musical songs performed by a handpicked children’s choir from Potchefstroom alongside the world-famous singer Amira Willighagen, took place at the NG Miederpark congregation in Potchefstroom on April 6.
All the children, including the choir and ensemble members, are formally trained in vocals and choreography, and had the opportunity to shine in a top-class performance.
About 60 children from Potchefstroom were participating in the production from various high schools and primary schools, as well as from Ikageng’s community project.
This year, it’s been 60 years since the release of the Sound of Music film, which was celebrated all over the world.
“In Potchefstroom we have now also cast our own, talented Von Trapp family, as well as a Mary Poppins ensemble, Beauty and the Beast, Annie and a choir of 40 members,” Frieda Brand, project manager of the Music-Go-Round concert, said.
“It is so good to give children, who normally don’t get the chance to perform on a big stage, the chance to perform with world-famous Amira Willighagen. They have been receiving choreography and singing help in recent months to produce a beautiful show.”
