Water issue to continue as plans for repairs are being made

As a precaution, residents are urged to make sure they have adequate water supplies.

A 450mm pipe has received significant damage due to an electrical fault at the Ventersdorp road pump station. Repairing the 450 mm line is a major task.

Water is currently being pumped out of the excavation. Stability points on the line then need to be installed. A concrete slab must then be poured around the line.

This is causing a water shortage in certain parts of Potchefstroom, however, pumping will need to stop in order for repairs to commence.

Residents are urged to make sure they have enough water for the next three days. In the meantime, arrangements are being made for water tankers to service affected areas.

The following areas are affected by the disruption:

  • Van der Hoff Park
  • Grimbeek Park
  • Tuscany Ridge
  • Baillie Park
  • Mooivallei
  • Vyfhoek
