Water shutdown planned for Potchefstroom
Residents are urged to make preparations as all areas of Potchefstroom will be affected.
The Department of Water and Sanitation will be conducting urgent maintenance work at Boskop Dam to address critical equipment requiring immediate repair.
Jeanette Tshite, municipal spokesperson, says to facilitate this essential work, a full 24-hour shutdown of Boskop Dam’s Left and Right Bank Canals will be implemented.
“The water closure is scheduled to take place from Wednesday, 30 July 2025 at 18h00 until Thursday, 31 July 2025 in the evening. This shutdown will significantly impact the Potchefstroom Water Treatment Plant, as well as all reservoirs supplying the Potchefstroom area.”
Residents are therefore strongly advised to store adequate water in advance for household consumption, to use it sparingly and responsibly during this period.
