Planned electricity outage for Ventersdorp

Residents are therefore advised that electricity may be restored earlier than the scheduled time.

The JB Marks Local Municipality has planned a scheduled power outage at the Ventersdorp main intake substation for December 3.

The power outage will start on Wednesday at 06:00 and will continue up until 18:00 in the evening.

Jeanette Tshite, municipal spokesperson, says this planned interruption is necessary to install and commission a new 11kV Breaker Panel at the Ventersdorp Main Intake Substation, as well as commissioning the newly constructed 11kV Overhead Power Line that supplies electricity to Tshing Ext 10.

“The work includes coupling a new Breaker to the existing Panel Board. For the safety of all operators, the entire substation will be switched off for the duration of the works. Residents are therefore advised that electricity may be restored earlier than the scheduled time. As such, all electrical installations should be treated as live at all times. The Municipality kindly requests residents to plan accordingly and apologises for any inconvenience caused.”

Areas that will be affected include:

  • Town Area
  • Tshing Township
  • Toevlug
  • Moosa Park
  • Boikhutso
  • Boikhutsong
  • Appledraai
  • Farming Communities
