A 57-year-old woman in Ikageng retaliated after an unknown man allegedly raped her in her home at about 04:20 last Saturday morning.
According to Const. Kelebogile Trom, Ikageng spokesperson, the landlord and two of her tenants went to bed at about 21:45 on Friday night after watching TV at her place.
According to the victim, all the windows were properly closed but the kitchen door was left unlocked for the outside tenant to be able to use the toilet in the house. One of the tenants was sleeping in her room while the other was asleep in the other room.
“At about 04:20 on Saturday morning, she heard footsteps coming from the kitchen towards her bedroom. She asked the person to identify himself, but there was no response.
She saw a male, wearing a sweater and a hat, walk straight towards her holding a knife. He pulled her from the bed and she fought back. During the scuffle, they both fell on the ground. She screamed for the tenants to come and help her but they did not respond because they were afraid.
She crawled to the other bedroom where he grabbed her and raped her.
After her ordeal, the woman managed to grab a bottle and hit her attacker over the head.
“However, the bleeding suspect managed to escape through a window,” Trom reported.
