According to Kelebogile Trom, the police spokesperson, the police confiscated about 151 litres of alcohol in Ikageng last Thursday. ‘This month alone, we have arrested five men for selling liquor without licences. Men, aged 42, 36, 41, 32 and 29 respectively, have already appeared in court. A 62-year-old was also arrested for contravention of the liquor act,’ she said.
Trom added that on 10 June, the police pounced on a 32-year-old in Promosa who was arrested for the unlawful possession of ammunition. ‘The police found 179 used cartridges in his possession. He was also arrested for being in possession of suspected stolen property after a TV he could not account for was found in his house,’ said Trom.
