The police in Ikageng are investigating inquest cases after a 7-month old baby girl died in Ext. 11 on Sunday and a 55-year-old man was found hanging from a roof in Ikageng last Wednesday.
According to Sgt Kelebogile Trom, the police arrived at the scene on Sunday after being notified about a dead baby in Ext. 11.
‘The Emergency Medical Rescue Services were then when the SAPS arrived and, according to a paramedic, the baby’s face was swollen, she had multiple facial sores, skin peeling and a nappy rash,’ said Trom.
‘The mother says the child was playing and ate her food before they went to bed on Saturday night. In the morning, she noticed the child was not breathing. Trom says the police are still investigating the cause of death.
In another case in Ikageng last Wednesday, the police found a 55-year-old man suspended from the roof by an electrical wire. ‘According to his wife, she returned from town to find her husband hanging in the garage, which they used as a tavern,’ said Trom.
