NWU student leaders Thokozani Hadebe (chairman SRC), Vernice Steenkamp (current affairs officer SRC) and Bongani Mahlangu (secretary SRC) gave their opinions on racism in South Africa as well as on campus.

This was at the #RootOutRacism anti-racism week discussion on 17 March at the NWU Potchefstroom campus.

Both Hadebe and Mahlangu said that racism can only be practised by those with economic power and therefore mostly white people are racist.

Mahlangu also said that the language barrier on the NWU Potchefstroom campus is causing something that resembles the Group Areas Act.
