The station commander of the Potchefstroom police station was injured yesterday (27 January) while chasing a suspect.

According to Col. Adéle Myburgh, provincial spokesperson, Brigadier Steven Moodley was on duty during the voter’s registration weekend.
“At about 10:30 himself and a colleague noticed a suspicious person on the corner of Thabo Mbeki avenue and Chief Albert Luthuli drive. As they approached the suspect he started to flee,” said Myburgh.
According to her, they both chased the suspect on foot. The suspect fled in the direction of the taxi rank where he was eventually arrested. Brig. Moodley stumbled and lost his balance during the chase. After the suspect was arrested he was treated for minor facial injuries.

The suspect who is in his 30’s will appear in the Potchefstroom magistrate’s court tomorrow (29 January) on a charge of attempted robbery.
