The South African (SA) Army Armour Formation is hosting this year’s Military Skills Competition at the Regiment Moorivier, Potchefstroom, from 22 to 26 October.

The South African (SA) Army Armour Formation is hosting this year’s Military Skills Competition at the Regiment Moorivier, Potchefstroom, from 22 to 26 October.

 
The competition has been organised to promote a better understanding between Reserves of the Atlantic Alliance and guest countries.
In this year’s competition, the many activities will include shooting the R4 rifle and the 9 mm pistol, swimming, grenade throwing, an 8 km combat run and the obstacle crossing.

 
The programme for the competition is as follows:

  • R4 rifle and 9 mm pistol shooting will take place at Dirkie Uys Shooting Range at 07:30 on 24 October;
  • Swimming will be happening at the Potchefstroom Dam swimming pool, starting at 13:00 also on 24 October;
  • Grenade throwing will be held at the Kopanelo Land Obstacle Course, beginning at 07:30 on 25 October;
  • Obstacle Crossing will also take place at Kopanelo Land Obstacle Course at 07:30 on 25 October;
  • 8 KM Combat Run at General De Wet Training Area, starting at 07:00 on 26 October;
  • Finally, the prize-giving function will take place at the 4 Artillery Regiment at 15:00 on 26 October.

 

Over 20 countries have been invited to participate in the competition. The teams that will be participating consist of six members (maximum) per day: 5 participants and 1 Reserve.
The competition is open to the public and the Military Personnel.
