NW Department of Education thrilled with the uninterrupted matric exams

MEC Mmaphefo Matsemela of the North West Department of Education is thrilled that the 2019 National Senior Certificate examinations concluded smoothly throughout the province without any disruptions.

MEC Mmaphefo Matsemela of the North West Department of Education is thrilled that the 2019 National Senior Certificate examinations concluded smoothly throughout the province without any disruptions.

“The Province registered 33 014 full time and 6 940 part-time candidates with a total number of 39 954 candidates who sat for the 2019 examinations in 435 centres,” says Elias Malindi, the Provincial spokesperson of the Department of Education.

Study camps for the grade 12 pupils were created by the department. These were created for learners from areas that had a probability of examinations being disrupted.

All the learners were accommodated in camps during their exams and after writing, they were safely transported back home.

“MEC Matsemela emphasized that the province was ready to conduct, administer, and manage the marking process. She said there are 15 marking venues identified by the department, and the marking will commence on 03 December until the 12 December 2019,” said Malindi.

MEC Matsemela thanks all the stakeholders who supported the pupils throughout the duration of their final examination.

“Our examinations were conducted and managed with extreme integrity. Our officials and invigilators ensured that learners followed the policy of the exam throughout until the last day of writing. As a province we are very excited that there were no incidents that could jeopardise the credibility of the examinations,” said MEC Matsemela.

She further urges all pupils to not take the course of action of committing suicide if they receive bad results.

“I would like to further appeal to all learners who wrote their examinations not to think about taking their lives when they get bad results. I want them to know that failure does not mean is the end of their lives. They should be patient and try again next year. Failure is only giving you a chance to try again and they will make it,” she said.
