Kedibone Maleke and her husband, Paseka Nico Maleke, organised a Christmas party for children from disadvantaged backgrounds at Nico’s Car Wash in Ikageng.
They wanted the kids to celebrate and enjoy the festive season, just like any other child. Together with a group of women, the couple prepared food and other goodies for the children. They spent the day playing, dancing and enjoying themselves.
Kedibone realised that many parents were without work and several families were underprivileged. Therefore, she immediately saw a need for this event. She wanted those children to have the same opportunities as others. Through this, she tried to get the children off the streets and celebrate with them.
“I’ve always wanted to do something for them. I wanted to see them happy and put a smile on their faces,” she says.
The event was a great success and all the children went home with happy hearts. “I thank God that they all arrived home safely with full tummies and a smile on their faces,” she said.
Kedibone thanked all the supporters and sponsors, especially the women who helped her with the preparations to make the festivities a success. “If it weren’t for them, I would have struggled with the preparations, but God made it possible for them all to be present,” she said gratefully.
This was the first time she had hosted this party but she plans to do it again.
