This past Sunday afternoon (6 September) a multiple vehicle accident involving a truck and a bakkie caused a traffic pileup that took around two hours to clear. Five people were injured in the accident and taken to various hospitals for further medical care.

The accident took place at approximately 15:30 in the afternoon.

“When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after 15:30, they found a truck across both lanes of the roadway and a bakkie with extensive front-end damage. Upon further assessment, five patients were found to have sustained injuries ranging from moderate to critical. ER24 paramedics, together with the Government EMS, treated the patients at the scene before transporting them to various hospitals for further medical care,” stated ER 24 spokesperson, Ineke van Huyssteen.
