For the Grade R learners of B.M. Choabi Primary School in Promosa, a day at school turned into an exciting journey of discovery when local emergency and safety services visited the school as part of their Career Day.

The young learners had the opportunity to meet members of Mooirivier Beskerming, ER24, the fire department and the traffic department, giving them a glimpse into the important work these men and women do to serve and protect their community.

For many of the children, seeing the emergency vehicles and meeting the people behind the uniforms was an experience filled with excitement and curiosity.

The visit also provided an opportunity to teach the learners valuable lessons about safety, helping others and the different career opportunities available to them when they grow up.

Career days such as these can leave a lasting impression on young minds, showing children that there are many different ways they can make a difference in the lives of others.

The message was simple but powerful. Today’s curious Grade R learners are tomorrow’s doctors, firefighters, paramedics, traffic officers and community leaders.

By bringing these professions into the classroom, the emergency services not only introduced the children to their careers, but also helped plant seeds of inspiration for the future.
