With the country in lockdown, we all have so much time on our hands that we don’t know what to do with it all. Some may use the time to complete their studies, catching up on their theoretical content and doing assessments, while others may look for fun things to do with their family.

1. Home workouts

You and your family can start the day with a few stretches or a walk around the yard.

Home workouts help boost your flexibility, build stronger muscles and ensure joints don’t become stiff while at home.

2. Reading

You may have bought books that you haven’t had time to read? Well, now is the perfect time to get started. Reading also applies to children. They can also download and complete extra educational activities.

3. Gardening

The lawn may be growing again and the plants need to be watered. Since the gardener cannot come and assist because of the lockdown, now is the time to get your hands dirty. During the lockdown, learning how to maintain your garden could be a worthwhile skill to adopt and a fun one too.

4. Cooking or baking

Trying out new recipes and cuisine that you’ve always wanted to explore and experiment with could be a good idea during this period. Your partner, children or a loved one may even help you prepare a dish or two. Through this activity, they’ll learn how to make it as well.

5. Playing games

Games like Scrabble, 30 Seconds, Monopoly or chess are suitable for a group of people to share and have fun. Outdoor games like table tennis, obstacle courses and more will also do the job. Besides being fun, playing games has several benefits, like reducing stress. Games can be educational for children and beneficial for their development.

6. Meditating and treating oneself

Meditation helps to keep one calm and relaxed. According to Healthline, it can reduce stress and enhance self-awareness. These benefits are similar to the ones of treating yourself. You get an opportunity to spend a lot of time with yourself and this promotes emotional health overall.

7. Using your creativity

Scrapbooking, creating a collage or making a vision board are activities one can engage in for the next few days.

Other art-related activities that would work well are painting, writing, drawing, photography, etc.
