Couple reappears in court for possession of suspected stolen property
A couple, Willem Hendrik Barnald (45) and his wife, Rowen Barnald (42), reappeared at the Klerksdorp Magistrate’s Court earlier today, 4 June, for the for possession of suspected stolen property and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

Colonel Adéle Myburgh, Police spokesperson says the couple was arrested on Tuesday, 2 June around 13:00, after the Police received information of the stolen items that were allegedly kept and sold from the accused’s home.
“During the execution of the warrant, police discovered close to 30 CCTV cameras and four unlicensed firearms consisting of a shotgun, two rifles, and a revolver. Furthermore, 493 bullets of different calibres were found and no license could be produced. The couple was immediately arrested and all items seized,” said Col Myburgh.
The couple applied for an urgent court appearance and had their first court appearance yesterday at the Klerksdorp Magistrate’s Court. They were each granted R500.00 bail.
“The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena expressed his appreciation towards members for the successes. He reiterated that the police working together with communities, will not hesitate to ensure that illegal firearms are removed from the wrong hands, while perpetrators are brought to book,” said Myburgh.
