Laerskool President Pretorius and Promosa Secondary School closed its gates on Wednesday, 24 June, until further notice following the two confirmed cases of Covid-19.

Elias Malindi, the Department of Education spokesperson, says Laerskool President Pretorius closed after a grade 7 learner tested positive, and Promosa Secondary was closed after a member of the School Governing Body (SGB) tested positive for the disease.

According to a reliable source, the SGB member had a meeting with the principal and a colleague. So, the two contacts have been in self-isolation, since.

Malindi said the necessary precautionary measures will be conducted and both schools will reopen once the premises have been decontaminated and disinfected.
