Hospital alerts public to false job vacancies

The Witrand Psychiatric Hospital warns the public of false employment vacancies that unknown sources have been circulating on several social media platforms.

The Witrand Psychiatric Hospital warns the public of false employment vacancies that unknown sources have been circulating on several social media platforms.

According to Koketso Diloane, the Witrand Hospital spokesperson, the alleged fraudsters have consistently been circulating the false notices since May.

“Before the application process commences and the forms are released, those who are interested are required to call and organise a forward payment as administration costs,” the notice reads.

“The hospital follows a uniform and consistent Government recruitment, selection and employment procedures,”  Diloane says.

The Witrand hospital appeals to the broader community not to fall victim to these scams as government jobs are never sold.

The hospital follows a specific process when advertising available positions. They announce the vacancies in local newspapers and on the hospital’s communication platforms.

Persons who may be interested can then apply for the relevant positions. They will be profiled, shortlisted if they meet the requirements and called for an interview. Lastly, the successful candidate will be employed. There are presently no job vacancies at Witrand Psychiatric Hospital. Diloane said at no point would the hospital officials or human resources personnel release the personal contact details of queries on advertised employment positions. He suggested that this could alert one to the likelihood of a scam.

The acting chief executive officer (CEO) of Witrand Hospital, Moipone Elizabeth Mpolokeng, says the hospital distances itself from the posts. “Such activity amounts to fraud. Communities are reminded that they should alert the nearest police station to any activity where money has been swindled from them under false pretences,” she said.
