Instead of celebrating himself for his birthday, MEG Security’s managing director, Diphaphang Michael Mochobo (38) affectionately known as ‘Shimmy’, turned his birthday into a “Party with a Purpose”.

“Shimmy has always been known as someone who gives back,” said his colleague, Lehlohonolo Ntaopane.

This year’s birthday celebration was no different. The party was hosted at a popular restaurant on the Bult, where guests were asked to bring two new blankets as an “entrance fee”. Approximately 80 people attended the party last month, where all Covid-19 regulations were adhered to.

Party with a purpose is a platform for stakeholders and potential donor partners to network, plan and forge a way forward on implementing change within our respective communities. On the day of the event, all of the MEG Cares projects were announced.

How potential partners and stakeholders could participate was also discussed. MEG Cares is the CSI wing of MEG Security. MEG’s senior management, employees and stakeholders handed over 150 blankets on the first leg of their annual blanket drive.

In addition, they also made 150 food combo parcels available. MEG Security thanks all its stakeholders, partners and everyone who donated blankets at the Party with a Purpose event.
