For Mandela Day, MEG Cares gave back to a household in need over the past weekend ( 23 July). The family was struggling to access grants, making it difficult for them to provide for themselves.

Two week ago, the senior management and employees of MEG Security, along with their stakeholders, arrived at 16754 Kopaneng Street, Potchefstroom, to help to rebuild the home.

With the assistance of 26 pairs of hands, the house was repainted, broken windows and doors were repaired, the yard was cleaned and food parcels and sanitary towels were handed over to the family.

When he heard that the head of the house did not have an identity document and was struggling to get one, the community development officer from the speaker’s office assisted the family and they can now apply for grants. The children also got birth certificates so they can enroll at the nearest school.

What was expected to be a two-hour renovations project took the team three hours to complete.
“We give back because we all face challenges; some more than others. When you can make a difference and effect change, don’t wait for someone else to do it,” Daniel Mochobo, the CEO of the company said.

MEG Cares partnered with several stakeholders to make this Mandela Day a success. MEG Security worked with MAONO Foundation, GKLM Events Group, Unique Tombstones & Granite, Fruit & Veg, Moffats Caltex and Maki Seheri (the community development officer from the Office of the Premier).
