Awareness campaign to help less fortunate

Social Justice (Action For Social Justice) is planning an LGBTIQ+ Pride service delivery day on 30 October.

Social Justice (Action For Social Justice) is planning an LGBTIQ+ Pride service delivery day on 30 October. This will take the form of household profiling at an informal settlement next to the old Promosa cemetery.

The aim is to hand out clothing and sanitary pads, followed by the LGBTIQ+ Pride Solidarity motorcade awareness drive. “As an organisation, we are asking for donations of sanitary pads, clothes that are still in good condition for all ages, shoes, canned and dry food items. These will be distributed to those in need,” Thabiso Mogapi, the executive director of Social Justice, said.

“October is African Pride Month in South Africa. Therefore, the purpose of the campaign is to raise awareness on LGBTIQ+ visibility, human rights, advocacy, creating safe spaces and enabling a free environment for everyone.”

Social Justice is a marginalised sexual minority population civil society-led organisation that advocates for access to rights, application, equality and human dignity for the marginalised sexual minority groups. The organisation is non-profit, non-governmental and based in Potchefstroom.

Anyone wishing to donate or contribute towards this initiative should contact the project coordinator, Tholang Thato Santho, at 071 546 6598 or 076 794 0769 for drop off or collection.
