Resident thankful for fixed sewage leak

A resident from Ext. 3 in Promosa, who asked to remain anonymous, is thankful that their sewage issue has been resolved after weeks of pleading with the municipality.

The resident, who has been living in the area for 10 years, says the issue started in August this year and was only fixed during the first week of this month.

The past two months had become unbearable for the resident and her family as the sewage was right outside her kitchen. “We couldn’t cook or eat without having to smell the disgusting stench,” she said.
The woman said this was the first time they had experienced a sewage issue in their yard.

According to her, the municipality said the sewage leak was caused by a burst pipe.
“They also said the delay in getting it fixed was because they needed to follow protocol before it could be done,” she said.

Since the issue was resolved, life has gone back to normal for the family.
“Although the mess is still here, I’m relieved that it has been fixed and we no longer have to put up with the smell,” she said. The Herald asked the municipality for comment but none was received by the time of going to print.
